Marquita Miller-Joshua put her feet to faith and jumped headfirst into the world of entrepreneurship. After working for Fortune 500 companies as an accountant for years, Miller-Joshua knew her time to shine had arrived. The decision proved to be golden: Miller-Joshua resigned from the corporate ladder and branched off into the world of small business ownership.
Today, Miller-Joshua President of Five Star Tax and Business Solutions from her headquarters in Kansas City, MO. Her full-service accounting & business consultation firm focuses on a diverse menu of business solutions, including tax planning and preparation, accounting and payroll, business startup planning, and revenue generation.
Miller-Joshua fosters entrepreneurship in others, and her company places particular emphasis on services for startups. Miller-Joshua’s business senses, commitment to her faith and values have catapulted her to the forefront of the business scene, and the local community has taken notice. KC Business magazine named Miller-Joshua as one of Kansas City’s 2010 Rising Stars, as one of 2011 Influential Women, one of 2014 Women Who Mean Business, 2018 she was awarded Inspirational Influencer by the International Association of Women, and she is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In 2009 Five Star was nominated for Small Business of the Year in the metro and has been certified as a woman-owned and minority-owned business.
Miller-Joshua is a sought-after professional speaker. She has spoken for a host organization but to name a few; Small Business Association, the Haiti Economic Development Department; the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Conference, Keller Williams Real Estate Conference, Sprint Corporation, T-Mobile, Northwest Missouri State University, University of Missouri KC, Lincoln University, National Congress of Black Women, Inc, Commerce Bank, Urban League and a host of various other organization.
Miller-Joshua was selected to speak at Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Mega Fest Conferences, Pastors and Leadership Conferences, and Potters House Staff Retreat several times.
Miller-Joshua has managed to stretch the limits of time to also author four books, co-author another book--an Amazon best seller, produce two CDs and take her annual “No More Excuses, Only Results” conference nationwide in 2016. No More Excuses is designed to empower individuals that are ready to release all excuses to focus on results-driven actions.
She is a regular segment TV host on CBS & FOX morning shows, contributing writer for Black Enterprise Magazine and interviewed on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), Miller-Joshua is a member of The Jackson County Links, Incorporated; Past-President for the National Speakers Association, KC Chapter; Treasury for the largest public institution in KCMO Foundation board, She is a board member for Habitat of KC. Miller-Joshua holds a BS in accounting and management from Park University and MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management. A Kansas City native, Miller-Joshua has accomplished her dreams and beyond while also serving as a mother, daughter, mentor, woman of faith, educator, international speaker and board member in multiple organizations. Miller-Joshua is a pillar in KCMO and across the United States. She is married to Mr. Raymond Joshua and together, they have three daughters and a son.
